Gary's Automotive and Truck Service: Your Truck or Car's AC System
At Gary's Automotive and Truck Service we understand how your AC system works. Your car or truck's AC system uses a Freon gas type refrigerant for cooling. For automotive applications, Freon is refined into tetrafluoroethane, a non-toxic, non-flammable and non-corrosive gas called R134a. The ability of the refrigerant gas to change its physical properties into a liquid as it is compressed and condensed keeps you cool on hot summer days.

If your AC system starts blowing warm air come by the store at 550 China St and talk with one of our auto parts specialists to determine what parts you need to get your AC working again.
Your AC compressor is the auto part responsible for compressing the refrigerant R134a. When it is compressed it becomes very hot. Because hot is the opposite of what drivers want in an AC system, the refrigerant must be cooled.
R134a is cooled by your car AC condenser. This auto part is a series of coils that look very similar to a radiator. Just like a radiator, outside air passes over the condenser to remove the heat from the compressed gas. It is then condensed into a very wet cold liquid. The receiver-drier absorbs excess moisture from the liquid. Next, your AC filter traps debris within the liquid that can cause clogging in your car's AC system. At this point, the refrigerant liquid is still under too much pressure. The expansion valve and orifice tube take over and force the refrigerant to change from a high-pressure liquid refrigerant into a low-pressure liquid refrigerant mist before it enters the evaporator.
As the low-pressure liquid refrigerant mist flows through the evaporator, a blower motor pushes air across the cold tubes of the evaporator and cooled dry air flows into the passenger compartment of the automobile. The accumulator is a holding tank for the refrigerant as it exits the evaporator. While the refrigerant is circulating inside, the accumulator removes any moisture that may be present.

What People Say About Us
I was in town from WI when my radiator blew. They got me back on the road in less than 6 hours. I could look at their work and know they knew what they were doing. This is a great place to get work done. They really care about getting you back into your vehicle and at a reasonable rate. I'm a mechanic myself and I would give them 10 stars if possible
If you have an electrical issue with a vehicle they have a wiring wizard named MARK. Told him what problem I had and he told me " I WILL FIND IT ". It's hard to find confident people that actually take great pride in taking a challenge and fixing it quickly. Turned out aftermarket gps was the issue that was hard wired under dash. Thanks fellas for a great job !!!!!!!!!!
The only mechanic in town I trust to work on my car! Shawn is great at what he does and is always fast, affordable, and provides the best customer service.
Can always depend on them for fast and reliable service. You wont ever meet more honest people I trust them completely with all my vehicles both personal and for my company Jolly Roofing.
I have used Gary's Automotive ever since I moved to Abilene (5 years now). They are honest and I never worry about my vehicle or being ripped off! They're family run and are the type of people to show you and walk you through anything. I trust them to take care of me no matter the issue. They're so good at what they do, my mom drove 6 hrs to get her vehicle seen by them. I wouldn't recommend anyone else!
It is so hard to find a business today that is honest, demonstrates integrity and believes in doing the job right the first time with out cutting corners. BUT, that and more is exactly what I found at Gary's Automotive and Truck Service. I am beyond impressed with the service and customer care that I received. TO EACH OF YOU...THANK YOU!!!
